I. Introduction

A. Purpose of the study

This study aims us to know the needs of the community and to know if they are aware of using GMO.

B. Brief description of the community

JKN Farm has a large area of 1.2 hectares which is contains of some fruit trees. This farm is a very well-known farm in Brgy. Concepcion, Talisay City. However his community are using GMO in order for them to harvest their crops in a short period of time.

C. Data collection instrument techniques use

Our group used the direct or interview method and indirect or questionnaire method. We used direct or interview method in order for us to have a direct contact to the interviewee. Also for us to be able to get more accurate answers. On the other hand, we use the indirect or questionnaire method because this may help us to add some information that may add.

II. Summary of Demographic Profile of the survey

This pie chart shows the percentage of the respondents who answered yes and no to GMO where in 30% answered yes to GMO and 70% answered no

III. Summary of Health Profile

The usage of GMO affects health of consumers. Foods that are genetically  engineered and modified are not safe when we take it in. Less nutrients will be nurtured on our body when we prefer the foods that uses GMO rather than organic.

IV. Conclusion

Throughout on our research, we can conclude that GMO has it’s advantages and disadvantages. GMO may help us to harvest the crops in a short period of time and consider also the fast income. However GMO can affects our life. It can cause health risks, environmental hazards and also it can destroy our economy. JKN farm is a community that uses GMO but we have a better solution in order for them to stop using of GMO because of it’s disadvantages. Overall, more studies should be done to ensure that community are doing what is best for themselves, the environment and future generations.
